In lieu of something funny, the first 100 words of my paper on the draft

With an ambiguous war on terrorism stretching our armed forces across multiple fronts and threatening to open up more, the military and national defense have come to the forefront of the national conversation in ways we never saw in the relatively peaceful ’90s. As the United States seeks to defeat a terrorist network that exists independent of national identities and borders with military invasions that are acknowledged by most if not all to be operations of choice, the question of conscription is on the minds of many.
