A Google Earth tour of my hometown

Being on the cutting edge of every trend as I am, I downloaded Google Earth on Thursday. I thought the best way to put this amazing satellite imagery technology to use would be to take you around Burlington, Connecticut! Get ready to be amazed by this detailed picture of Burlington! (click on all images to expand)

There it is! My house from an elevation of about 4000 feet. The detail is astounding, isn't it? But wait! That's just the beginning!

Wow! As anyone who has been to my house knows, I'm sure, that's it! Right up close, almost lifesize! You can see the green shutters, the red door--and look! I think that's even my cat Cecil (rest in peace) lounging in the front yard! The detail!

Well now that you've seen my house, it's time to take a tour of the rest of northwestern Connecticut.

There's the center of Burlington. Sure, it's not the biggest town in the world, but I think you can tell it's a nice little quaint place to live. There's the church, the library, the commons, the town green, the gas station, the Dunkin Donuts--but of course, I'm sure there's no point in explaining all this as it's right there in front of your face, as clear as day!

There's the complex that houses both Har-Bur Middle School and Lewis Mills High School. Of course, the school doesn't look much like this today with all the construction, but this is exactly as it was when I was there!

Here's Burlington's scenic Sessions Woods wildlife area. The beautiful surroundings are captured wonderfully, even on satellite. And the craziest thing about this picture--if you squint your eyes and focus your vision behind the picture, you can see a 3D acorn!

And last but not least, our beloved rec center, home of a wonderful pond, a basketball court, a playground and a couple sports fields. And now, with the help of Google Earth, every one of my readers can find their way around Burlington like an old pro! Technology is amazing.
