This is wonderful

So I was doing one of my routine Google searches when I noticed a little link next to the results that I'm sure I've noticed but never really considered before. I'm speaking of the little "Similar pages" option down at the bottom of each page Google gives you.

I was a little curious, so I decided to see what sites the all-knowing Google would call similar to my own. You can see the results here. The first thing I fixed upon was the fourth result: the official site of Subway restaurants! It feels like it's been ages since I've talked about Jared Fogle around here, but it's nice to see that Google has been paying attention. I am just so honored to be linked with a Great American Hero like Jared, and that's all I can really say about that. I'm even getting choked up over here, excuse me.

The second thing I noticed was the second result, a page called Horse Gift Ideas Central. I haven't taken a real close look at the site, so I don't know if it's a page for people who want to buy horses as gifts or people who want to buy horse paraphernalia as gifts or people who want to buy gifts for horses (or maybe all three), but I really don't understand how this one got onto my related sites list--and in the second spot! I guess it's likely that I've mentioned horses once over the course of 2+ years, I can't remember a single instance.

But I know a shrewd marketing opportunity when I see one, so I guess my only option is to cash in, or at least start pandering to an audience that I never knew I had. So starting from this moment forward, I don't think I really have a choice but to start making a lot of posts about horse gifts. To those of you who are worried about cheap intrusive product placement, don't worry. I would never sell my integrity out for any group, no matter how powerful, even if they're offering beautiful saddles at bargain basement prices. It'll be subtle. Unfortunately, this is just the kind of thing you have to do these days to keep an audience.

So welcome, horse gift enthusiasts! Make yourselves at home!
