-A tulip blooming in a graveyard. This symbolizes the circle of life--even amidst death, there is life. In fact, it is death that gives birth to life--what, with the nutrients entering the soil enabling the tulip to grow, and whatnot.
- A woman giving birth in a graveyard. See above. This is perhaps an even more powerful image than the tulip, because it is another human being born, rather than just some crummy flower.
- A corpse rotting in the middle of a maternity ward. The inverse of the above--the stink of death is with us from the moment of birth.
- A frowning clown with a single tear rolling down his cheek. This symbolizes the metaphorical masks we wear in everyday life to conceal our emotions. For example, even if you are wearing clown makeup, that does not make you a happy person ipso facto. Especially if you are in a hot room under some hot lights, and your makeup starts running, or if you are in a room full of people who find your clowning tiresome.
- A laughing old man who's about to die. This can symbolize many things. Mostly, it depends on what else is in the room with the old man--viz., what he is laughing at. If he is laughing at a clown, then it symbolizes the strength of the human spirit--it is able to laugh and experience happiness even in the face of imminent death, and therefore there is hope that the spirit will persevere. If he is laughing at a crying clown, then he's probably just a dick. If he's laughing at nothing, then he's probably crazy, and the image probably doesn't symbolize much at all.
